Throughout the school year, Ripon High School’s Associated Student Body selects outstanding students who demonstrate involvement, leadership and school spirit to be recognized as Student of the Month. For this month, junior Chloe Hager has earned the honor after being nominated by ASB students.
Hager is widely known across campus for her involvement in both academics and extracurricular activities. She participates in several clubs and classes, most notably Speech and Debate and Rock and Roll Club, where she plays both bass guitar and guitar, primarily performing as the club’s bassist.
Hager stated she was both grateful and surprised after hearing she was the elected Student of the Month.
“It feels pretty good,” Hager said. “I didn’t really expect it. There are so many other good students, so it was definitely surprising.”
Her involvement on campus played a major role in her selection. Hager described a Student of the Month as someone who is engaged in school life and contributes positively to the campus community.
“I think Student of the Month should be someone who is very involved, spirited and active around campus,” Hager said.
Beyond her musical talent and classroom participation, Hager encourages other students to get involved as early as possible; especially incoming freshmen and underclassmen.
“Just join the club,” Hager said. “Don’t say, ‘I’ll do it next year’ or wait until you’re an upperclassman. Do it now. Time goes by really fast, and you want to stay in the moment.”
She emphasized that high school moves quickly and that taking advantage of opportunities early can help students make the most of their experience.
Hager also took time to recognize one of the teachers who has had a strong impact on her high school journey, giving a special shoutout to Mr. Sikma.
“He really pushes me to be the best person I can be, and I’m very grateful for that,” Hager said. “I wish every teacher were more like him.”
Through her dedication to academics, extracurricular involvement and school spirit, Hager serves as a strong example of what it means to be an engaged student at Ripon High School. Congratulations to Chloe Hager for being named this month’s Student of the Month.
