There are a lot of different spirit weeks throughout the year, but one of the most creative ones is Yearbook’s spirit week. They had different days that made the kids in classes involved in things.
On Monday there was a day where people could doodle on Mr. Sikma’s wall and the best drawing was able to win a raffle ticket to possibly get a free yearbook. Senior Camden Downs stated that , “All the activities we’ve been doing have a lot more participation than we expected.”
Tuesday had a fun game of guessing the Yearbook staff. The staff posted on their Instagram throughout the day and people had to guess who the staff member was based on a baby picture. Senior, Julia Herrick, is , “Excited for the superlatives awards night.”
Wednesday the staff handed out candy during 4th period to all the classes with a paper attached to it saying how everyone should buy a yearbook. This encouraged people to want to purchase a yearbook. while adding a QR code for easy access. Senior Molly Burger stated that she liked how “Involved the community has been throughout the week, supporting the yearbook program.”
Thursday the rock and roll club played at the amphitheater during lunch and handed out cookies. They also had a game of guessing how many lollipops were in the jar. The winner of the lollipop guessing game got a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a free yearbook. Senior, Sophie Cockriel, says, “The rock and roll club had a decent amount of people show up which not only helped out their program but also benefited yearbook.”
Friday there was a night rally which is when the seniors, who got Senior Superlatives, share what they got. It was for free from 6-7 in the North gym and they drew a ticket for the free yearbook. The seniors were sat in rows of chairs and called up based on their superlative. They then got a certificate that had their name and their achievement on it. After the event all the Seniors took pictures with each other to live the “Glued To The Moment,” title.
The Yearbook Week was a great way to involve the school in a different way besides dress up days. Having this week dedicated to the yearbook program helped us learn more about it and what exciting things are to come by the end of the year.
