The Dodgeball Tournament is back in action here at Ripon High. Athletic Commissioners Lucas DeVera and Darius Fitzpatrick with the help of Mr. Perez made sure the tournament kept moving. There are a total of 8 teams who were passionate to take the crown away from the Dingles. And unfortunately, there was a team that was successful.
This year was a big year for the Dingles. They are hungry for the win since last year they were only able to tie the championship game. They were committed to winning this year and dusting the rest of the teams. Mr. Perez highly encouraged his sophomore students to participate in the tournament.
Gurnoor “G” Singh stated, “My friends made me want to do it, Mr. Perez also said it was gonna be a lot of fun”
Although the Dingles gave it their all, there was one team who was able to shut them out. This team was led by sophomore Kalvin Martin. His team was unstoppable throughout each day they played. They wiped out teams to get to the top and eventually win the whole thing. On the day of the championship game, the South Gym was packed. The students couldn’t help but witness the rivalry between the Dingles and the WolfBoys. Ever since the Wednesday Livestream, the Dingles had put their rivalry out there to the school. Team member Kael Rangel had announced that “they were excited to beat the sophomore team (The WolfBoys)
Martin said, “Mr. Perez’s team always talks the talk about his team being the best, but simply we were just the better team. ”
The teams went head to head on Friday 3/20, and the atmosphere was loud. The team that won best of three would take it home. The first game the Wolfboys took the win, with only a one player advantage at the end of the timer. The second game at the end of the timer, the Dingles were able to win. Therefore, they went to a crazy third game. Both teams were dripping in sweat with sore arms. As the final whistle blew the Sophomores took an unexpected turn and won the match. They quickly celebrated their long awaited victory over the feared Dingles.
