Throughout the school year, each month RHS’s ASB students select outstanding students to take the role of Student of the Month. This month, freshman Salina Epperson, has taken on the role of Student of the Month. She is an amazing student, athlete, and an amazing example of being involved in school activities.
Salina expresses her excitement and shock when she found out she was student of the month. “I didn’t know and it was really surprising to me but, I’m really glad that I was chosen to be student of the month”. Some people on campus that inspire Salina to stay motivated are her cross country coaches, Issac and Señora, Mr.C, and someone in her personal life that inspires her is her Mom.
School wise, Epperson is involved in clubs like Girls League, classes like Competitive Academics, and just finished her cross country season and is looking forward to tennis in the spring. She states that, “it’s really fun once you’re able to do more of it and it’s a great way to meet new people”. Outside of school Salina finds herself reading, traveling, hiking, biking, ice skating, and skiing. For someone who has an abundant schedule, Epperson has many ways for balancing her school and home life. She describes that one of the best ways to stay balanced is “ to divide my work and stay ahead of time, to help stabilize my schedule”.
Some advice that Salina likes to live by and tell other people is “Be the best of who you can be and strive for what you think.” Advice like this helps Epperson get her to where she is now and something we can all take away. So, congratulations to Salina Epperson for being an outstanding example of what an involved student should be.
