Tradition at Ripon has always been something other schools have envied, and the 2012-2013 school year is no different. The football team has started two new traditions, the first is the singing of the school song after every football game home or away.
The second one is team Mohawks. As “brothers” we have all decided to cut off our hair and get Mohawks. Even the players moved up from JV for Varsity playoffs have joined the tribe and gotten Mohawks. The whole thing started one day as the players were making the walk out to the practice field, at first some people didn’t want to they would say “If everyone does it I will do it.” Then, the very next day, campus security guard and coach, Darren Higgin,s got the first Mohawk, and it was more contagious than the flu!
Now just two weeks later all but a few players are sporting mohawks. What’s the reasoning you ask? We’ve had a perfect season,(10-0). We are the undisputed TVL champs, and now we are going into playoffs. Our record speaks for itself ;we are a good team; the only thing we are missing is something that can tie us even closer together as brothers, then we found it Team Mohawks.
The Ripon Indians will not only be entering the playoffs with momentum coming off an incredible season, but they will also have the power of Mohawks behind them.
