On Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, the Ripon Lions Club hosted a wonderful spaghetti dinner at the Ripon Community Center. It was an evening centered around community, service, and celebration as families, students and local residents gathered together for a warm meal and meaningful cause. The event brought together people of all ages, creating an atmosphere that felt welcoming and united.Students from local elementary schools attended alongside volunteers from Ripon High School. The Ripon High Cheer team and the school’s JROTC program dedicated their time to helping throughout the night. Both groups played a huge role in making the dinner run smoothly, and their positive attitudes made the evening even more memorable.Students volunteered and played a very important role in the success of the event. They handed out plates, served guests, refilled drinks, packaged takeout meals, and helped clean up at the end of the night.
Volunteer freshman cadet Clemens Castro shared, “We were providing the takeouts, as well as cleaning the pots and pans. We were just having fun and washing dishes was kinda chill.”
His comment reflected the upbeat spirit many of the volunteers carried throughout the evening. Even while completing behind-the-scenes tasks, students found ways to enjoy themselves and connect with one another.
Along with the RHS JROTC volunteers, the Ripon High cheer team also attended and volunteered. They sold raffle tickets, delivered plates to guests, and served drinks with bright smiles.
Sophomore cheerleader Myah Camp said, “We just like helping out our community. We wanted to just be involved with all of Almond Blossom, and it was just fun.”
Their energy added excitement to the event and encouraged guests to participate in raffles and activities that supported the cause.
The spaghetti dinner was held as part of the city’s annual Almond Blossom festivities, a long-standing tradition that brings the Ripon community together each year. Events like this dinner not only help raise funds for local programs and scholarships, but they also strengthen connections between generations. Younger students were able to see high schoolers stepping up as leaders, while adults in the community witnessed the dedication and character of Ripon’s youth.
By the end of the night, countless plates of spaghetti had been served, raffle tickets had been sold, and tables had been cleared. More importantly, the evening reminded everyone in attendance what makes Ripon special — a strong sense of unity and a willingness to serve others. Thanks to the efforts of the Ripon Lions Club, local families, and hardworking student volunteers, the spaghetti dinner was more than just a meal. It was a celebration of community spirit in action.
