A simple walk can say a lot and on Friday our school showed that one small step can make a huge difference as we followed in Ruby Bridges footsteps on our way to school. Ruby Bridges impacted the world by being the first African American girl to go to an all white school.
This was a big act after the segregation laws were passed and our own students honored her with this active tradition. The guest speaker, Maria Soto says, “I see Ruby Bridges not just as a historical figure, but a prominent voice within positive social justice movements.” Teaching our students through physical activities is not only good for their brains but also their bodies.

“The purpose of today’s school walk was to spread awareness on why Ruby Bridges is so important.”, Aiyana Pamplona says and our school did just that. Our leadership program bought purple beads and face paint and FFA got breakfast for everyone! Bringing our different clubs and groups together to commemorate a hero is truly what makes our school great.
