Ripon High held the annual Dude Be Nice rally. Dude Be Nice is a week-long tradition celebrated at Ripon High from Nov 3rd to 7th 2025, to promote kindness throughout the campus. Students and staff celebrate this tradition by participating in dress-up days and performing random acts of kindness. By the end of every Dude Be Nice week, one staff member at Ripon High is awarded with the “Dude Be Nice” award. The qualities of winning Dude Be Nice is to be outgoing, respectful, and kind to everyone. In 2025, math teacher Ms Weaver, was the winning staff member for Dude Be Nice at the annual Dude Be Nice rally.
As the rally began, a video was shown of RHS students being asked who is someone they are grateful for. The video then showed them being asked to write a letter to that person. After a few minutes, they were asked to call that person and read the letter to them. After the letters were read and many tears were shed, the video ended and the mood was set for the rest of the rally.
Senior Emme Wilbur and Junior Hailey Kuennen, would take the microphone, as they began to give hints of who the Dude Be Nice winner is. As the teacher’s life and achievements were revealed, more students began to realize who it was. As heads turned, the name Ms. Weaver was announced as the 2025 Dude Be Nice winner. The entire gymnasium applauded as she walked to the center of the North Gym basketball court. With tears in her eyes, she sat down as gifts from other clubs and classes were handed out. An uncontrollable rush of joy filled the gym as hugs, fist bumps, high-fives, flowers, gift baskets, and smiles were shared with Ms. Weaver.
Weaver emotionally replied to those who nominated her by saying, “Thank you, for everything. I feel so loved. I feel so amazing right now. I just appreciate you all so, so much, and I love you all back.”
Being kind to others may seem like a simple act. However, its impact on others is something that is anything but simple. Ms. Weaver has shown time and time to the students and staff of RHS her kindness, and how she is always willing to help others. Congratulations Ms. Weaver!!!
