The varsity volleyball won their match against Riverbank on Tuesday. The team was able to win the game in three sets.
They won their first set 25-9. Riverbank was able to catch up to the lady indians in the second set, but lost with a score of 25-12. The Indians did not let them catch up again, and the final score for the third set was 25-8.
“ The team really worked well together and communicated. We were confident in ourselves and with each other on the court and that allowed us to play at a higher level and really put the game away” junior Graycn Taylor said.
Outside hitter Mia Van Lewen had 8 kills, 2 aces and 7 digs and the other outside hitter, Makayla Buie got 4 aces, 7 kills, and had no hitting errors. Libero Devon Stokes was able to get 5 kills and 16 successful digs.
When asked if there was a play that stood out to her, Taylor said “ A play that stood out to me was Mia Van Lewen executing an X. It was really fun to watch.”
The lady Indian’s freshman team cheered on the JV and varsity instead of playing due to Riverbank not having a freshman team. JV won their game against Riverbank in two sets. The score for the first set was 25-15 and the score in the second set was 25-12.
A lot of RHS students, faculty, and parents came out to support both the JV and varsity teams. Students showed their support by making signs and cheering on their favorite players.
“I feel that we did well. We really worked as a whole and were confident with each other on the court.” Taylor said.
