Track & Field recap and highlights

This year’s track and field season is not over yet, but already one for the books. With broken records and a nearly undefeated 4×4 team, there are tons of improvements that have been made. This year’s freshman class provided the coaches with new slates for improvement and athletic development.

Not only did these freshmen bring in new abilities, but they also played a major hand in the team’s final scores in dual meets and invitationals. With the team’s scores taking such a high road, this has put the team in a good position for TVL finals that will take place on Thursday, May 2nd. On Friday, April 26, Laila Irigoyen broke the women’s 800m meet record at the Gold Rush Elite Invitational in Calaveras, CA with and incredible time of 2:17.03a.

“I honestly still feel like there’s always room for more improvement. But i’m pretty happy with this years track season” says Irigoyen

This was not the only meet record set by the team as a matter of fact. Abrahim Alsaidi broke the meet record for TVL: Dual Ripon vs. Hilmar in the 3200m with a time of 9:54.8. This is not the end of the season, and it couldn’t be more exciting to see what is yet to come after the TVL finals.
