Ripon High held a Spooky Stories program in the school library at lunch on Oct. 31, 2025. Students came with their lunches to listen to Halloween related stories and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Mrs. McPeak, the librarian, decorated the library with orange lights and dimmed the lights, creating the perfect Halloween vibe that made everyone feel comfortable. Mrs. McPeak explained, “It takes me a couple of hours to set it up, and my TA’s also helped me with this.”
Even though it wasn’t that crowded, it was still enjoyable. Mrs. McPeak played two short horror videos, and she ensured every table had plenty of snacks to munch on while enjoying the stories, “There were a few teachers that helped with bringing cookies as refreshments during the story time” she stated. “It was nice that the staff chose to help.” The stories weren’t that scary, but they kept everyone entertained. Rilynn Lucero, a sophomore, performed a hilarious and slightly spooky story that kept everyone entertained. “I actually wrote that story myself for an English class assignment—it only took me about 30 minutes to finish,” she said.
The Spooky Stories event was a great way for students to celebrate Halloween, hang out with friends, and a break from school stress. It was a simple but fun event that brought a festive feeling to the library.
