With the holiday season coming up fast, it is important to think about the less fortunate during this time. And that’s exactly what our RHS Girls League Club has been doing this past week. Led by Girls League, they are hosting their 2nd annual food drive for the Ray of Hope of San Joaquin County.
The Ray of Hope Children’s Crisis Services is a non-profit organization run out of Manteca,CA, but serves San Joaquin County. This year’s food drive will go towards less fortunate families, but more towards women and children in our near community. This is the club’s second year working with the non profit organization to help the community and hopefully help demonstrate to the members of the club on how to serve the people around you.
The cause for the food drive is for many different reasons, but club advisor, Mrs. Ochoa states, “Because it’s obviously a difficult time for people and we enjoy being able to help people in our local community”. One of the club’s core values is being able to serve the local community around us and Ochoa tells us,” I think it’s important to show our members that it’s important to only be a part of an organization that promotes healthy relationships with other girls on campus, but serve others as well”.
The food drive has helped many people, whether it being a family receiving food or teaching Girls League members on campus the importance of giving back to the community. So, as this food drive comes to an end, even a small donation can be the reason someone else has hope this holiday season.
