On Monday, March 20, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Oakland Athletics battled it out in a Spring Training game. The Oakland Athletics starter, Sean Manaea held the Diamondbacks to only one unearned run over five innings, taking his ERA down to 2.81. Manaea struck out five and allowed just three hits. Athletics left fielder, Khris Davis blasted a two run double in the first inning, and designated hitter, Stephen Vogt doubled in the sixth. “Everything pitch-wise felt good,” Manaea said. “I’m just refining everything, making sure arm speed and grips and everything like that are good to go. I was really happy with everything.”
However, outfielder, Chris Owings had two hits, one of them being a triple. Outfielder, Jeremy Hazelbaker hit a two-run single to lead the Diamondbacks to a 10-6 victory over the Athletics. Diamondbacks right-hander Taijuan Walker pitched four innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits. “Fastball command just wasn’t there today,” said Walker. “It was one of those days. I’m glad it’s happening in Spring Training.”
The Diamondbacks will go on to play the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, and the Athletics will go on to play the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday also.
