XC Subsections Are A Success

Saturday afternoon was full of epic races and accomplishments from the Ripon High Cross country team, both young and old.  The meet took place at the Frogtown Fairgroungds in Angels Camp as always, and quite honestly the racers pulled out some grand performances, with plenty of runners advancing to next Saturday’s Section meet in Folsom.

Both the Varsity girls and Freshmen boys teams advanced as a whole, as well as Senior Alex Norling individually, with the Varsity boys being just shy of advancing, and that is without their #2 runner who has sadly been ill for the past two weeks.  “I know that every runner crossed that finish line feeling proud, and I am proud for them whether their season is over or they are moving on,” said Coach Calkins.

“It was great to beat Escalon at this meet, especially since they beat us during the TVL races this season,” said Liz Eicher, a varsity girls runner.

No matter the overall outcome next weekend, this year has been an accomplishment already! Junior Ellie Waters is shooting for her third straight year of advancing to state as well as Alex Norling is looking to advance to state as he is ranked in the top five in the section.  Be sure to wish your fellow classmates good luck for their upcoming meet as the competition is firing up!
