Into the Swing of Things

Spring sports are starting back up again in case you didn’t know and that means softball begins. Both junior varsity and varsity have gone through try-outs, picked their teams, and are now ready for their season to start. The coaches, girls, and spectators are really excited for the season and to see where it goes.

The coaches this season were looking for girls with positive attitudes, hustle, and a good work ethic. They want the girls on their teams to improve and have a good, fun season they could learn from.

Varsity coach Tanner says, “To win as many games as possible while having fun is our main goal this year.”

While the coaches were looking for those qualities in the girls trying out, the athletes came to a conclusion of what types of qualities they were looking for in themselves and in their future teammates.

Rhylee Magazinovic, a senior on varsity, says “I think being able to keep your composure and pick up your teammates even when you’re down, is what truly makes a successful athlete.”

Like the coaches and pretty much every other athlete, many of the softball girl’s main goal this season is to have fun bonding with their teammates and to win.

“I hope my teammates and I can bond, make good memories, and work as a team to win,” says Kiara Davis, junior on varsity.

Softball is a fun sport that you can learn a lot from, but for a lot of the girl’s softball is a passion they can gain many opportunities from. Several of the girls on the team plan to continue softball in their futures.

“In the future, I plan on playing softball at a 4-year college, but if that doesn’t work out, then I will most likely be playing intramural softball during college,” said Magazinovic.

Softball brings a lot to the table, bonding with teammates, learning experiences, and great opportunities, but the best thing for the girls is to have a fun season with their teams.

“My favorite thing about softball is to be able to play with my teammates,” said Monique Toledo, a sophomore on junior varsity.
