The Ripon High Boys Varsity Soccer Team has been working hard this season, and it shows every game. On Dec 1st, 2025, the Ripon High Boys Varsity Soccer team faced Sierra High School in a long and intense game from 6:00 to 7:45 PM. From the start, you could tell both teams were ready to go all out. Sierra came in fast and aggressive, and they scored the first goal of the game in the opening half. Ripon didn’t let that get to them, and they eventually fought back and scored, tying the game 1-1 and getting the crowd excited again.
Brian Machado, a senior from the boys soccer team explained, “One thing the team improved on this year is communication and the connection between passing the ball,” Machado also explained that, “Everyone on the team is motivating, we all pick up each other’s shoulders and heads during the tough times, but I would say especially Isaac Ramos on the team has been really motivating.”
The rest of the first half was pretty back and forth. Ripon started playing more aggressively, trying to win every ball and not let Sierra control the game. Even though things got a little rough at times, it showed how badly the boys wanted to stay in it.
In the second half, both teams came out even stronger. Ripon made a few good plays and got close to scoring, but Sierra found a break and scored their second goal, putting Ripon behind 2-1. After that, Ripon really turned up the pressure. They were going in hard for tackles, pushing the ball up the field, and trying everything they could to tie the game again.
Isaac Ramos, a sophomore on the boys soccer team said, “All of our teammates listen to music and hype each other up, creating a comfortable atmosphere for the game.”
Even with all their effort, Ripon couldn’t get another goal before time ran out, the game ended with Sierra winning 2-1, it was a frustrating loss, but Ripon showed a lot of fight and didn’t give up at any point in the game. Their teamwork and determination definitely stood out, and even though the score didn’t go their way the boys left everything on the field.
