This year’s 2025-2026 RHS Varsity Girls Soccer has faced many challenges through both wins and losses. This past Friday, Jan.16, 2026, the team experienced a close match against Ripon Christian, at RC. With strong offensive and defensive plays the girls fought till the end. By the end of the match, it ended in an unfortunate score of 3-2 in RC’s favor.
When asked what her biggest challenge was, sophomore Allie Grussing, says,” My biggest challenge was how I responded after Ripon Christian scored, because moments like that can either push you to fight harder or can cause you to give up.” Even after the loss, Allie says,” Despite losing, I’m proud of how our team never gave up and continued to fight until the final whistle.” Grussing adds,” Even when things didn’t go our way, we kept our composure, supported each other, and stayed focused instead of letting frustration take over.”
The Varsity Girls Soccer team includes many outstanding players. Some stand-out players from the game include, Allie Grussing, Alena Mallari, and junior, Alexis Zamora.
While the result of the match wasn’t what they hoped, the team will continue to work hard for every future game. Their next game will be on Friday, Jan.23, against Hilmar, after todays game against Escalon. Make sure to show out and cheer on the Varsity Girls Soccer!
